Question by guinnesscute: 4 month old baby with face rash, feels like sandpaper?
What causes the rash on baby’s face, he had it when he was 2 weeks old for like a month and now he has it again, kit feels like sandpaper and is a little red, its also going down his neck, my Ped said all babies get it and it’ll go away, she recommended Aveno but as the first time it didn’t help. I want to know the bottom of the problem to see if I need to see a dermatologist. He’s breatfed only baby. Could it be something I am eating?….he has a little reflux, could it be because he has reflux?….Also please share your tips in how to treat it. Thanks a lot for your help. XOXO

My daughter, also breastfed, also with reflux, had this rash too. Is your son on meds for the reflux? We switched from zantac to prevacid, started washing all our clothes in dreft, w/o dryer sheets, and stopped using any baby lotion, including aveeno. I did not change what I was eating. The rash went away after those changes, but I’m not sure what did the trick.
Keep in mind, if he has a sensitivity to stuff in laundry detergent, it’s not just his clothes that will cause a problem, but the clothes of anyone who holds him, because his skin will rub on their shirts. Keep a blanket between his face and peoples clothes.
As long as it’s not irritating to him, I wouldn’t worry too much.
