I think only when they have a diaper rash. Make sure to change the diaper often, use baby powder to prevent moisture on the skin, and clean baby’s skin.

Not really, just use wipes after every change. Maybe a lil bit of baby powder during hot weather to absorb moisture in her bottom. If she does have a rash use the ointment until she is healed.

as long as it is till red yes…..Balmex is a miracle worker…..when my baby gets diaper rash i put it on and the next time i change her it is gone…… the stuff is amazing!!!

If the baby seems prone to getting red / rashy, then yes. Otherwise, it probably isn’t necessary. A&D Ointment is better than Desitin in my opinion – easier to clean off & doesn’t stink quite so badly!

No, dont put anything on baby’s bum unless it is needed. This stuff is great for preventing rashes, but if your baby already has a rash then Fresh Air is best to help clear it up.
I use baby vaseline or any type of vaseline it always worked for me. Yes change your baby’s diaper each time and add that cream. Make sure that you keep the rash dry for if it gets wet this makes it worst. Good Luck

If you’re trying to prevent a rash…then air drying is the best medicine…..even if the baby has one AIR DRY THE BOOTY! let them air dry untill they pee or something else. You can just put it on them at night (long exposures) but seriously AIR DRY and Balmex is deffinitly better than Desitin. and baby powder is not reccomended especially if it contains Talc….(not good)
If you’re using cream, also give the baby some cranberry juice(as long as your doctor says it’s o.k.) This will actually help prevent rashes.

It helps to keep the baby’s skin dry and the wetness in the diaper doesn’t bother them as much, specially in the summer. If you don’t want to use diaper cream, as they do have some chemicals that are to treat diaper rashes, use Vaseline. I used Vaseline with my daughter and she almost never got a diaper rash, unless she had diarrhea. Also, think of your baby’s comfort. The Vaseline keeps their skin from being exposed to the pee all the time.

A baby doesn’t “need” diaper rash cream applied with every change but I would highly recommend applying a coat of Vaseline (or Balmex, which is a rash cream) to the diaper area with every change. Vaseline is a great preventative of diaper rash! Also Balmex cream is great for preventing redness and rash. (and for treating it, should you not use anything to prevent) Nothing works as well as frequent diaper changes! Always cleanse and dry the diaper area thoroughly with each change. Never, never use powder (or cornstarch) in the diaper area. Powder holds moisture which grows bacteria and can cause irritation and more (especially with female babies). Hope this helps. Good luck.
The only time I put rash cream on my daughter is when there is a rash there. Otherwise; I use nothing on her skin, I just clean her really well with a wipe and then I let her lay for a couple of minutes to let the skin dry and air out. I do change her often, whenever the diaper feels like she has gone I change her to keep her dry.
i always put diaper rash cream on babies that i watch even if they dont have it i do so it can prevent it i normally do it every other day tho if they dont have it so the skin dont become immuned to it

Don’t use baby powder, when u shake the bottle it can get into their little lungs, My grandma insisted that we use it though, and put it directly on to the diaper, and away from the baby, but I always put diaper rash cream on. and I have a 20 month old, and she’d had 2 diaper rashed… Don’t hurt to put it on.
With my son I used it on evey diaper change. My doc recommended it. He never got a rash. I’d seen other babies with diaper rash and I went with better safe than sorry. Why even take achance at subjecting a child to that kind of pain. Think about it. What if you had a flaming rash on your bum. And u can get up all by yourself.
No you don’t have to put in on with every diaper change, but to help stop the diaper rash on can put corn starch on it and on Vaseline on it. That will help all.
No. It won’t do any good; it doesn’t *prevent* diaper rash, only treat it. The only exception *might* be if your baby has rashes nearly all the time; in this case, it could help because it will treat the rash that is probably starting to develop but not yet visible.

Yes! I use Butt Paste on my son for every diaper change. It helps prevent your baby from getting a rash in the first place. You can use your wipes and make sure he/she is clean then let the bottom air dry a little bit, then put your Butt Paste and your diaper on. My son is 3 months old now and has Never had a red bottom yet… Thank god! I love butt paste
