My 11 month old has a rash around his penis any ideas what is could be?
its not diaper rash I know what that looks like I used desitin on it and it did not help now i started using hydro-cortisone and hope that’s ok
he is circumcised and he gets a bath on a regular bases, before he goes to bed any other ideas
He may have an infection. Especially if he is not circumcised and it’s not being cleansed properly. i would take him to the doctor, he may need antibiotics.
EDIT: It may still be an infection. Or like the person down there said a yeast infection. It’s terrible to get rid of them… you have to go to the doctor to get the special cream. Have you used any different soaps? Maybe he is having an allergic reaction to something?
this happens to my son if he has juice- maybe you should evaluate what he is eating
It could be fungus. If it is HC may help but I wouldn ot use it though on 11 month old! I would not use it on my skin, let alone an infant.
Take him to the doctor for a check up and a better creme if you need it.
Is it bumpy? If so then more then likely its a yeast infection. YES! Boys get them too. Especially if they have been on antibiotics for another infection..My son had one when he was about 18 months. I thought is was a regular diaper rash, but after desitin..baby powder..ect. Nothing would work. So I took him to the dr. and she confirmed that is was a yeast infection. No worries though. Its totally normal.
No one here can diagnose him. Take him to the doctor, or if you have a friend who’s a nurse, they can probably tell. Compare his “rash” to pictures for the following things:
fungal infection penis
rash penis
And, use words that describe the rash.
is the skin scaley at all? If it is in fact a yeast infection the doctor will prescribe an anti-fungal cream that you can buy over the counter. It’s the same cream used for athletes foot. You can go ahead and try it if you want to save a trip to the doctor. It’s completely harmless.
