his been put on prednisone,and cephalexin.twice already in the last two months he is a Brittney spaniel who was recently hit by a car and underwent surgery in which they removed his joint.. Since then he has had this rash under his neck, DOnt think its a allergic reaction beause we have stopped all treats . he has been tested for mites and mainge and both came back negative. They said something about staph infection but Were not sure yet..

he might be allergic to his medication
Try taking him to a vet that will actually do something about it.

Well, your best bet is to mabey wash him as much and as long as you can, and mabey clean his cage a lot, and
keep in inside and away from any germs….have you tryed any of those?

He might have an allergy problem ask your vet if he thinks he should send blood work to a lab and see. The lab can run some tests to see what he’s allergic to. Ask the vet see what he says.
if you use plastic bowls stop !!! it makes them brake out. if you don’t use them just try a bath with allergic reaction shampoo sold at petsmart it could clear up in a couple of weeks
just try it i had the same problem casue i wasn’t using the right shampoo
My cat hade a staph infection sartted by his tail, it is hard to find the sourse, but the rash apeared by his neck, when not treated could be serious! Hint: Carefully cut the furr away from the rash area and you will need to get him a coller. It looks like a cone, it will help your dog from scratching it. Any big pet store has it in diferent sizes.
I don’t actually know, I mean I am not a vet, but sometime, in my nursing home, (I am a nurse aide) when some of our elders have had surgery, they will experience things like this. Now it might be more serious in your dogs case. But I wonder have you thought of the stress that has put on your dog? Maybe start to think of him with baby skin and use medicated vaseline, I use that on my cats and it works wonderfully, the vet will say no, because if it works there gos the bill, not going to hurt just a little now. Rub on areas only. If it doesn’t work I would say try different vets you said 2 months if it is staph, you are looking at a serious problem, I would have thought your dog would have been very sick by now though. Use your in home common sense you’ll figure it out.

It may be the material, the dye, something used to clean the collar or that dog rolled in and it was washed off the dog, but not the collar. As simple as it seems, a LOT of people forget that the collar is just as dirty, if not more so, than the dog it is on.
