My one year old, 125 pound choclate lab has this rash that seems to be not only spreading, but is itiching him badly. The rash looks like some sort of insect bite such as flea or mosquitos. However, I know thats not possibly . What could this be?

Probably fleas. You cant know for sure unless you stared at the area for hours. It’s cheaper to see a vet than wait and have something worse happen.
Not sure why you don’t think that is possible with the fleas and/or mosquitos because even with the greatest flea meds sometimes fleas still end up on your pet. If it isn’t a flea bite then i would take him to the vet to make sure what it is so you know how to treat it.
he could have gotten into some plants that he was sensitive to that gave him a rash. My pom got into some poison ivy that was on our property and got a rash in the same area. Could be something along that line, or maybe he layed in some chemicals or cleaning products that irritated him…
If you are sure its not fleas then it could be a skin allergy.
If it is a skin allergy determining the source would need to be done by a vet / skin specialist.
Skin allergies can be caused by anything from dust mites to wandering dew and break outs can be seasonal.
could also be an irritation to a certain plant or long grass, (whenever I brought my dog in the woods she would get rashes sometimes on her belly)
Some type of reaction from plant, prickers in the grass or possibly lawn care products? I used Benadryl-with the vet ok to treat my weim who got into something. It worked wonders, although did make her drowsy for a few hours after the dose, used for 2-3 days, and then rash gone. It drove her crazy- whining-scratching and licking. Also used cool compresses. Good luck. I freak when my dogs are not feeling good.
