I have a slight rash on face begining at corners of the mouth. I’ve gotten this a few times before over the years. The size of the rash never gets larger than about 1/4 inch square. It doesn’t itch. It DOES burn, but only when in contact with things like toothpaste, moisturizer lotion, and citris fruit. Also, the corners of my mouth sometimes get cracked when the rash appears.
Do you think that this may be happening because I am allergic to toothpaste? Perhaps the fluoride or some other ingredient in it?
I think it might be lack of vitamins. I usually get the same thing when I’m about to catch a cold…and the thing that I mentioned before.
yes, i think it could be some kind of contact dermatitis. see a dermotoligist(skin specialist) if it keeps up. the only soap i use on my face (the skin dr. told me to use) is called cetaphil lotion. it is good and is made for sensitive skin.
also, i can use only one type of toothpaste and have to make sure that none of it gets on my skin or i get a rash around my mouth. good luck!
Does your tooth paste have cinnamon in it?
I have a minor allergy to cinnamon, and as I get older I have noticed that anything that has cinnamon in it can cause the same reaction you’ve mentioned and sometimes little sores on the inside of my lips or tongue.
At first I was really freaked out that I had Herpes, but my doctor is a Naturapath and we checked for allergies after he determined it wasn’t Herpes.
Yes, it could be the toothpaste. I had to switch to Tom’s Natural. Also you are lacking b-vitamins. Take a supplement.
Just a thought: My son developed a problem very similar to this in his early teens. We tested him with different foods and came to this conclusion: He is allergic to cheese. Processed meats such as packaged lunch meats and hot dogs also caused a discomfort around his mouth, but the cheese made it intolerable. He is now in his late 20′s and still cannot get near cheese. Hope this helps.
